PayPal Honey referral code and link (November 2026)

PayPal Honey doesn’t use a typed referral code. You join through a referral link, ours is joinhoney.com/ref/pcxfez, and the link applies the referral for you. Honey is a free browser extension that finds coupon codes at checkout and gives you PayPal Rewards points on eligible purchases. Reviewers report a sign-up offer of 500 points (about $5) for new members who join through a friend’s link and earn points on a first purchase. Honey doesn’t publish that amount on its help page, so treat it as unconfirmed. BonusMaxxing is an independent site and is not affiliated with or endorsed by PayPal or Honey.

What do you get with the Honey referral link?

  • Reportedly 500 points, about $5. PayPal says 100 points equals $1 when you redeem at PayPal checkout, so 500 points is $5. A reviewer notes the points post only after your first qualifying purchase, and that Honey sometimes removes the offer for referred users.
  • You have to buy something first. Honey’s referral rules require the new member to earn points on a first purchase.
  • Points are not cash. PayPal says points have no value until redeemed, and they can expire. The expiry timeframe isn’t stated on the help page.
  • Referrers are capped. Honey says it caps how many referral bonuses you can receive but doesn’t publish the number on its help page. A 2023 review reported a limit of 200 friends, which we couldn’t confirm.

How to use the Honey referral link

  1. Click our PayPal Honey link and add the extension to your browser. You must be 18 or older and in the US to redeem to PayPal.
  2. Create your account or sign in with PayPal.
  3. Shop at a participating store with the extension on and earn points on a first purchase.
  4. Wait for the points to clear. Pending referral points typically take 60 to 90 days to confirm, and sometimes longer.

How do you redeem PayPal Honey points?

You can use points at PayPal checkout (100 points = $1), exchange them for gift cards, donate them to charity, or redeem them to a PayPal account. Gift cards arrive by email, usually within 24 hours, and Honey’s help page lists a 1,000-point minimum for US store gift cards. Redeeming to PayPal requires a US personal PayPal account in good standing, and the email on your Honey account has to match one on that PayPal account. Redemptions are final once submitted.

Is PayPal Honey legit?

Honey is owned by PayPal and has been widely used since the 2010s, but it has been the subject of public controversy. Before you sign up, keep these in mind:

  • Affiliate allegations. Since December 2024, creators have alleged in a federal class action that Honey replaced other people’s affiliate links at checkout and behaved differently when it suspected testing. In June 2026 the judge allowed the claims to proceed, which isn’t a finding that PayPal did anything wrong. PayPal disputes the claims, and no court has found it liable. Reports also say some affiliate networks removed or suspended Honey.
  • It collects shopping data. Like any shopping extension, Honey sees the sites you visit while it’s on. Review its permissions before you install it.
  • The bonus is small. Five dollars in points, with a first purchase required, may not be worth the slow payout.

If you decide to use Honey, consider turning the extension off on sites where you’ve already clicked through from a creator’s link or another cashback portal, since only one affiliate click usually gets credit.
